Evaluation Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
We knew that we wanted our two murders to be teenagers. Originally we imagined them to be lower class living in council estates in a busy city such as London. We took inspiration and imagined them to be like characters from such films such as 'Kidulthood' 'Adulthood' 'Shank' and 'Attack The Block'. We planned for them to be stereo typical wearing track suits trainers and baseball cap.
However we later decided that due to the murder taking place within a forest it would be more likely they live in a small town rather than in a busy city such as London. This also influenced us to change the characters situations, we believed it would be more suitable if they were working class we showed this through them wearing jeans rather than joggers. We believed if the two murders were two working class teenagers who had never previously been involved with crime the story would become much more interesting as it is unexpected and shows how unplanned and accidental the murder is. Inspiration for this new characters came from UK drama and comedy shows such as 'Misfits' 'Skins' and 'The Inbetweeners'. The characters now being this way, was also was more suited to the boy that they murdered as he is a geeky middle class boy who would more likely be found in a small town rather than a city.
