Filming Day 2
For my second day of filming I went to shoot the vox pop of the male
fan. As Corey Skelton is not a real person I used my stepbrother and used him
to perform the lines 'Dude, I can't wait for the jump it's going to be so
gnarly. COREY ROCKS! Of course he'll make it!'. I shot the scene in my garden
with a tall bush as the background. I made sure he was a young boy wearing a
cap and trendy clothes as this would be want a fan of Corey's would be like. I
also shot it outdoors as his fans would mostly be outdoors as they would also
be into extreme sports too. For a vox pop they would not be in a house anyway
as they would have just been stopped and asked for the interview. I wanted a
vox pop to show how popular Corey Skelton was and how enthusiastic his fans
were about him. I used a vox pop as it is a typical convention of a
ducumentary. With him talking about the jump Corey was about to do the
interview was a great Segway into the interview of Stanley Mink speaking about
the incident.Saturday, 28 September 2013

Filming Day 1
Filming Day 1
Today on the 24th of September was my first day of filming in which I
went down to the local skatepark to get shots of Corey Skelton skating. I
managed to get I several photos as well as videos including: shots of him on
top of the ramps ready to go, celebrating with Stanly, fans reaching up to him,
him walking in and showing the camera his hometown skatepark aswell as others.
This is also when I got the idea of having shots of Corey secretly drinking. At
first the alcohol was going to be used to show him celebrating but then I
decide it would be a good angle to show him drinking as a way to try and calm
his nerves. As the film is about Corey it is important I get a lot of shots of
him so he is all throughout the piece. However he will be dead at the time of
the documentary so I can't have any interviews with him only found footage.
I directed both Jimmy and Billy as they helped me with starring in and
filming the clips. I wanted to get a clip of Corey grinding down a ledge at the
skate park, however I could not do this myself so it was difficult to get. I
found a solution by putting my shoes onto my hands and my jeans on my arms,
getting the shot from down low at the skateboard level you could only see the
shoes on the board creating the illusion that I was actually skating down the
ledge. This can be seen in the image.

Script
Script
The only dialogue used in my documentary will be from interviews with
Corey’s manager, stunt coordinator and two fans through vox pops.
Rick Dean (Manager):
"Corey, Corey, Corey, I mean where do I start?, he was without a
doubt the greatest extreme sport athlete of all time. Yeah he was most famous
for his skateboarding stunts but he was also an expert at bmxing, snowboarding
and even skiing, there was really no one better. He truly was a great great guy
in and out of sport he was charming, funny, the kids loved him; the lady's
loved him I mean EVERONE did. He was on top of the world no one could stop,
that was until it happened, until we lost him"
Stanley Mink (Stunt coordinator)
'It was the biggest stunt of his career broadcasting live in front of
20 million viewers worldwide. He was going to jump over a the Great Wall of
China on a skateboard!
I knew from the second I woke up something wasn't right I could just
feel it and I was right, the weather was extremely unstable that day and not
suitable for the stunt to take place, I told Corey not to go ahead and tried my
hardest to convince him not to do it. But you know Corey when he has his mind
set on something nothing will stop him, there was no way he was going to let
down all his fans down'
Rick Dean:
After the crash he was taken straight to nearest hospital and was
announced dead in arrival. Later autosopsy reports revealed their to be alcohol
in his system both from the night before and morning of the crash.
(No one will know what really happened that day and why he crashed,
some say it was the weather, some say he was distracted but I know what it
really was it was the drink, I mean I tried to stop him before I really did.)
Vox Pop 1 (Girl)
“Corey Skelton? OH MY GOD, I LOVE COREY, he’s so amazing I love
everything about him, the hair, the glasses the shirt the skateboard
EVERYTHING. I love you Corey!”
Vox Pop 2 (Boy)
“Dude I can’t wait for the jump it’s
going to be so gnarly, Corey’s AWESOME of course he’ll make it.”

Animatic Storyboard/ Shot List - Corey Skelton
Animatic Storyboard/ Shot List
This is my animatic story board which includes the type of shots I
plan to use in my documentary. Each shot is on screen for how long they will be
in the final version, some of them will just be still images but will have
either have narration or the audio from the interviews played over the top. I
also included music into my animatic that I will be using in the actual
production.
Shots:
1. Blackout - The sound of a crowd chanting 'COREY, COREY, COREY'
slowly fades in getting louder and louder.
2. Extreme Close Up - As the chanting continues a picture of Corey's
face appears and begins to zoom out slowly revealing the rest of him.
3. Medium Shot - The chanting fades out as music begins to play, as
the image is in full (from head to waist).
4. Long Shot - A collage of images and video clips begins to play. He
is with a large group of girls taking pictures with them.
5. Close Up – An image of him with each of his trophies.
6. Extreme Long Shot – Of Corey on top of a skate ramp performing a
trick, the camera slowly zooms in to him.
7. Long Shot – A clip of the crowd cheering going wild and lifting
Corey up after the stunt.
8. Medium Shot – The music stops, as an interview with Corey’s manager
‘Rick Dean’, who begins to talk about Corey and what he’s like.
9. Long Shot – During the interview there an image of the manager with
Corey shaking hands comes on screen.
10. Medium Shot – It cuts back to his manager as he continues with the
interview and begins to talk about Corey’s ‘big stunt’.
11. Long Shot – Pictures of Corey on the day of the event are shown.
12. Long Shot – There is also found footage of him doing past stunts
such as sledging down steep hills.
13. Close Up – The manager finishes up talking about the event as he
talks about the accident and the screen fades to black.
14. Medium Shot – A VOX pop of a female fan being interviewed about
Corey “OH MY GOD, I LOVE COREY, he’s amazing I love everything about him,
the hair, the glasses the shirt EVERYTHING.”
15. Medium Shot – His Stunt Co-coordinator 'Stanley Mink' begins
talking about the stunt and how he advised Corey not to go ahead with it.
16. Long Shot – There will be more shots of Corey training and getting
ready for the stunt such as Cross training, push ups and weight lifting.
17. Medium Shot – Vox pop of a male fan talking about the event. “Dude
I can’t wait for the jump it’s going to be so gnarly, Corey’s AWESOME of course
he’ll make it.”
