Evaluation Question 7

Evaluation Question 7

Over the course of this project I have improved on many of my skills including visual, editing and audio aspects. Since we started our project and created the first draft of our storyboard to our final cut our film opening has changed drastically due to improving on skills and realising the mistakes we had made, changing editing, audio and re shooting on many different occasions.
Original Storyboard.
There was many visual aspect that we improved on throughout the project that caused us to re shoot a number of times, our biggest visual challenge which taught us a big lesson is the lack o shots we anticipated there being on our storyboard. With our story boarded shots we had not even filled up 1 minute of screen time as a result we had to come up with more shots and even another scene after the main title had come up. We also had to change some mis en scene aspects for example we changed the murder weapon on 2 occasions and had to re shoot when we realised that the pole was not visible when we zoomed out on the body. We also learnt we had to be careful with lighting and camera angles making sure every shot looked right, this is something we did not previously anticipate.
This is similar to our audio as the main setting for our opening scene (trap styles woods) was located next to a busy motorway this caused problems with picking up audio whilst we were on location as a result of this we learnt how to add in pre recorded audio in post production. We also had to learn how to add non diagetic music in order to add tension to the scene.
I learnt a lot about editing throughout our time working this, learning to do more than simply cutting from one shot to another. I learnt about visual transitions, we used these especially during the scene where Matt is panicking at his house to make each shot flow together quickly making him seem worried and nervous. I also learnt about downloading fonts from the Internet to add them to our piece in the titles and credits.
